GOD LOVES ME
Lesson One (1st Quarter)

To the Teacher
:
Begin your planning and preparation with prayer. Keep a prayerful heart as you teach these little ones. A parent letter has been provided to send home with the children.

Materials needed
:
Construction paper, glue, crayons, snack, paper towel, small cups (Discourage them from bringing in their own cups due to another child getting it).

Schedule & Lesson

Free time (10 minutes) Use this time to check in the toddlers, and be friendly as you greet parents. Their child is the most important, and you want parents to feel comfortable with their child being in your care. Provide toys in good condition, and sanitized for them to play with.

Prayer & Snack Time

Get them in the habit of washing their hands. Place all snacks on a paper towel and give them a small amount of liquid in a paper cup. Require them to sit at the table to eat. It may take a little time, but they will get used to it. Say a simple prayer together.

Music (Sing several times)

God loves me,

God loves me,

I'm so glad that God love me.

Directions for chorography: Point finger up high on the word "God". Cross hands over chest for the word "loves". Clap three times with each word of "I'm so glad".

Lesson Time (5 minutes)

God loves you. God is good and God is kind. He loves you! (Point to them). God is in heaven (point up high) and he loves you, (point to them) and He loves me (point to yourself). God loves everyone (spread arms wide). Can you do that? Can you spread your arms real wide to show me how much God loves everyone? He loves you this much (spread arms wide). God loves everyone (spread arms wide) this much. Can you show me how much God loves you? (See if they will spread arms wide). That is right! He love you this much (spread arms wide).

God knows everything (Point both fingers and tap sides of your head). He knows you (point to them) and he knows me (point to yourself). He is way up high (point up high) in the sky - in heaven. Way up there (point up high). God is way up high. (Point high again). Can you help me point way up high where God is? (Point high). That is great! Good job! God is way up high in heaven (Point up high).

Review: God loves you (point to them) and God loves me (point to yourself). God loves everyone (Spread arms wide). God is way up high in heaven (point up high). God knows everything! (Point both fingers and tap sides of your head). Let's sing out song again. Sing it several times.

Scripture Poetry (Based on I John 4:7)

God loves me,

God loves me,

I'm so glad that God loves me!

God is good and God is kind

I'm so glad that God loves me!

Craft

Allow kids to select the color of construction paper that they want. Provide a large white sheet of paper with a large black circle made on it - large as you can make it. Have the kids color the large white circle. In the middle, the teacher writes with a marker the words "God Loves Me" very large. Cut out and paste to the colored construction paper. Write their names on the construction paper. Send home. Allow them to add stickers around the construction paper after is has been glued to it.

Alternative: Using fruit loops, write the words "God loves me" with glue on their paper. They will fill the glue places with the fruit loops. Letter "G" for preschool kids. Color and staple to a paperplate. Put a hole punch in the top of the plate and tie a string through it to place over the child's head to wear. Letter is available here: Say Letter "G" stands for God - G-G-G- God. http://www.preschoolcoloringbook.com/color/letg2.shtml

Cleanup (10 minutes): Clean up clean up, now it's time to clean up. Everybody clean up, now it's time to cleanup. (You do not need a tune, just chant in a sing song voice).
