Memory Verse Fun!

Memory Verse Psalm 150:3

Psalm 150:3  Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp. Psalm 150:3

Objects: trumpet or any other instrument

Question: Say, "Has anyone ever had another person to copy you on what you were doing? Did you like that? Ask one person to share when someone copied them. Then say, “An echo is something that sounds as if someone is copying you. Let’s try it. Repeat after me. “Praise the Lord”. Louder this time. “Praise the Lord.” Clap using your hand several different rhythms. Have the kids listen closely, and copy what you did. Make sure it is exact and repeat if necessary. We can praise God with instruments.

Show a Bible. Say, “This is God’s Word. We are going to read our memory verse from God’s Word. Read to the children from the bible the verse for today.

Show them the verse written on the dry erase board in large font. Turn it around so that they cannot see it in advance before you show it.

Point out the reference (Psalm 150:3) and tell them that Psalm is in the middle of the Bible. Then say 150 is the chapter or psalm and 3 is the verse. Have them read the verse together with you one time.

Say, “look at the word sound.” A sound can be an echo, a noise, a loud thud, humming and talking when we need to listen. Say, “Look at the word lute”.  It is an instrument from the 14th to 17th century. It resembles a guitar and has a pear shaped body. Jesus wants us to praise Him with all types of instruments. When we love Him we will want to praise Him.

If you do not know Jesus who lives in heaven you can know Him today. If you do know Jesus you can praise Him as we sing our songs this morning.

GAME
Have the kids say the verse playing this game. Divide them into two groups. Each group will say one word, and the other group the next word and so on until the verse has been completed. Do this three several times.

Next, pass out cards with these words on them. (1) Clap (2) Rub stomach, and (3) pat you head to three children. Say the verse three more times with that child coming up front and leading the group in doing what it says while the verse is being quoted.

Sing the “Doxology” one time. Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise Him all creatures here below, Praise Him above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen!
